摘要: China's economy has grown at remarkable rates in the last three decades, bringing about big improvements people's quality of life. On downside, increased economic activity contributed to serious environmental problems, many which are related country's energy system. Focusing particularly on Beijing, this study aims illuminating how income growth and lifestyle changes relate use society. An extended input-output analysis is applied estimate direct indirect household consumption (HEC) Beijing households different levels development year 2005. Using observations HEC varies across groups 2005 as a basis, projections towards 2015 made. According results, total amounts 42% occurring all sectors within Beijing's geographical boundaries. Hence, significant portion society can be linked with consumer activities. For urban residents, influences found more than times greater influences. Mainly due growing incomes, will grow substantially period 2005-2015, even overall efficiency corresponding central government's targets. The results indicate that share transport increase significantly. Without major improvements, huge increases expected 2015. Air conditioners most important single electrical appliance contributing residential electricity near future. Due uncertainty, figures should taken rough guides magnitude types only. Nonetheless, it author's opinion produces valuable insights add our understanding underlying drivers estimates considered sufficiently accurate serve basis for making some recommendations improving Based findings study, author calls local governments to: 1) Further incorporate role behaviour into conservation policies; 2) Make strong efforts mitigate focusing attention both producers consumers; 3) Give high priority constructing efficient buildings; 4) strengthen expand performance standard labelling scheme appliances; 5) Consider imposing constraints promotion consumerism by mass media advertising industry.
