摘要: Three tests are commonly used to diagnose prostate carcinoma date: serum specific antigen (PSA), digital rectal examination and transrectal ultrasonography. We evaluated these 3 in 1,001, 6-sector needle biopsies rule out carcinoma. Of the 253 (25.3%) revealed cancer. As a single test, PSA was superior or ultrasonography predicting cancer this patient population using difference of proportions tests. Receiver operating characteristic analysis also showed be test. The combinations plus were found 35 188 patients (18.6%) with intermediate levels 4.1 10.0 ng./ml. normal asymmetric nonindurated examinations. Only 5 79 (6.3%) level less than 4.0 demonstrated on biopsy. 4 had annual increases 40% greater. While hypoechoic sectors more twice as likely isoechoic contain malignancy biopsy, nearly 37.6% cancers sectors. A strategy performing biopsy only would have misdiagnosed 24.6% conclude that is most accurate diagnostic evaluated. recommend systematic sextant technique.
