摘要: Political parties in the Senate are almost as polarized at they House. Nevertheless, explanations for party polarization work better House than do Senate. The growing literature has speculated, though not precisely measured, direct influence had on This paper finds that entire growth since early 1970s can be accounted by Republican senators who previously served after 1978. In turn, our analysis indicates impact of these former representatives largely a set constituency factors related to increased conservative voting.
