摘要: Severe bone resorption is a vexing clinical problem, especially in patients without teeth. To study vivo, measurements of mineral density (BMD) the mandible both with and teeth are needed. Using Hologic QDR-1000 densitometer designed to measure lumbar spine hips, ex vivo were made selected areas mandible. The was positioned such that X-ray beam perpendicular its sagittal plane. In this way hits first one half then other. reproducibility--expressed as coefficient variation--of 0.5%. For 3%. method used for mandibular BMD would make it possible define an average several categories normal population patients, compare axial skeleton. Improvement may be obtained by repeating measurement. entrance dose per scan low, equalling bitewing/radiograph.
