摘要: Tourism is often identified as an economic diversification option for rural places, but a review of the literature reveals that most viewed homogenously, places outside cities or when differentiated, are far away (exotic remote) close to (fringe); limited research has in middle (the boring bits between). Experience suggests there significant differences opportunities and challenges different areas experience, yet academic governmental policies programs do not adequately reflect these differences. Despite many excellent case studies, been attempt create framework allows comparison only within same geography, across three geographies determine, thus illustrate, both need theoretical construct of, differentiated tourism geographies. This introductory chapter presents our analysis differentiating rural, geographical context factors used nine from countries Australia, Canada Sweden.
