摘要: The organic solute and steroid transporter, Ost alpha-Ost beta, is an unusual heteromeric carrier that appears to play a central role in the transport of bile acids, conjugated steroids, structurally-related molecules across basolateral membrane many epithelial cells. transporter's substrate specificity, mechanism, tissue distribution, subcellular localization, transcriptional regulation, as well phenotype recently characterized alpha-deficient mice all strongly support this model. In particular, display marked defect intestinal acid absorption; decrease pool size serum levels; altered intestinal, hepatic renal disposition known substrates transporter; triglyceride, cholesterol, glucose levels. Collectively, data indicate beta essential for sterol disposition, suggest may be involved human conditions related imbalances or lipid homeostasis.
