Cadmium, lead, and zinc removal by expression of the thiosulfate reductase gene from Salmonella typhimurium in Escherichia coli

摘要: The thiosulfate reductase gene (phsABC) from Salmonella typhimuriumwas expressed in Escherichia coliin order to produce sulfide inorganic and precipitate metals as metal complexes. sulfide-engineered strain removed significant amounts of heavy the medium within 24 h: 99% zinc up 500 μM, lead 200 100 μM 91% cadmium. In a mixture each cadmium, lead, zinc, total solution 10 h. Cadmium was first, second, last. These results have important implications for removal wastewater contaminated with several metals.
