摘要: The mechanism of mass loss in late evolutionary stages low- and intermediate-mass stars is not yet well understood. Therefore, it crucial to study the dynamics region within a few stellar radii, where wind acceleration considered take place. We present three-dimensional diagnosis atmospheric closest asymptotic giant branch (AGB) star R Dor from low photospheric layers extended outer atmosphere--for first time for other than Sun. images reconstructed with spatial resolution 6.8 mas--seven times finer star's angular diameter 51.2 mas continuum--using AMBER instrument at Very Large Telescope Interferometer show large, bright over surface an atmosphere. velocity-field maps atmosphere obtained Mg H2O lines near 2.3 micron forming heights below ~1.5 radii little systematic motion beyond measurement uncertainty 1.7 km/s. In marked contrast, map CO overtone reveals outward 7--15 km/s height ~1.8 radii. Given detection dust formation strong material between 1.8 may be caused by radiation pressure on grains. However, we cannot exclude possibility that intermittent, ballistic due convection and/or pulsation.
