摘要: We present results from a 47 ks observation of the Andromeda galaxy, M31, using High Resolution Camera Chandra X-Ray Observatory. detect 142 point sources spanning 3 orders magnitude in luminosity, LX = 2 × 1035 to 1038 ergs s-1 0.1-10 keV band. The X-ray source location accuracy is better than 1'' central regions galaxy. One lies within 13 SN 1885 but does not coincide with UV absorption feature identified as supernova remnant. However, there an optical transient, which likely nova, at source. There weak source, ~ 4 1036 cm2 s-1, coincident nucleus M31 and 14 globular clusters. Our has very high efficiency down luminosities 1.5 for 5' nucleus. Comparing ROSAT made 11 yr earlier, we find that 0.46 ± 0.26 > 5 are variable. no evidence pulsars this region, indicating population dominated by low-mass binaries. density radial profile follows power-law distribution exponent 1.25 0.10 inconsistent surface brightness profile. point-source luminosity function well fitted differential broken power law break (4.5) 1037 s-1. consistent model aging
