摘要: The subtropical jet stream plays a significant role in the climate system and there exists evidence that it has intensified since 1950s. However, lack of upper-air observations before this time makes difficult to place trend longer term context. Here, we show Tibetan ice core's snow accumulation dust concentration records are respectively correlated anti-correlated with wind speeds over Asia as represented both NCEP 20th Century Reanalyses. This behavior is consistent an intensification began 1870s.
