Predictors of smoking cessation from adolescence into young adulthood

摘要: Although smoking cigarettes is hazardous to health and cessation has positive benefits, few smokers are able successfully quit. The purpose of this study was examine the predictors in a nonclinical sample 134 male 190 female, young adult, regular (daily) within social learning maturing-out framework. Four waves prospective, longitudinal data from community followed adolescence into adulthood were analyzed. Logistic regression analyses used test effects differential associations, definitions, reinforcement, changes adult role status on adulthood. Becoming married nonsmoker decreases proportion friends who smoked significant cessation. Current stoppers did not differ significantly terms prior intensity cigarette use or alcohol abuse/dependence. They also psychological characteristics, including depression coping cigarettes.
