Optimum waist of localized basis functions in truncated series employed in some optical applications

摘要: The waist parameter is a particularly important factor for functional expansion in terms of localized orthogonal basis functions. We present systematic approach to evaluate an asymptotic trend the optimum truncated bases satisfying several general conditions. This behavior fully introduced and verified Hermite-Gauss Laguerre-Gauss bases. As special case importance, good estimate projection discontinuous profiles on functions proposed. importance application proposed estimation demonstrated via optical applications.
