摘要: As the figures for wife abuse cases in Hong Kong continue to rise, author questions effectiveness of current law controlling domestic violence. It is argued that present law, which punishes abusers by putting them into jail, can neither change their violent behavior nor repair personal/familial relationships parties involved. within this context proposes adoption ``court-mandated counseling'', a scheme has been practiced not only United States, but also Mainland China, and Taiwan. is, however, noted such counseling programme must be sensitive gendered legal politics local cultural discourse, as, otherwise, will operate (re-)strengthen both male dominating structure postcolonial hegemony.
