摘要: In recent years, prisons and jails have become de facto psychiatric hospitals, responsible for the care treatment of individuals with serious mental illness. Historically, cognitive-behaviorally informed therapeutic approaches been choice among health practitioners in correctional settings. However, inmate-clients often present complex diagnostic issues that are arguably better served by long-term options, such as psychodynamic psychotherapy. We first review nature psychotherapy setting, well barriers challenges faced both providers inmate-clients. then studies examine efficacy various techniques correctional/forensic contexts. Finally, we argue that, due to psychopathology, average length time incarcerated, arise this multifaceted challenging should consider providing modalities when working incarcerated individuals. also more research is needed these
