摘要: The mesoscale environmental surveys were conducted between 5 N and 17 mainly along the 131.5 W meridian from 1997 to 2002 investigate controlling factors of carbon nitrogen contents in bottom sediments. Sediments study area showed zonal distribution pattern depending on latitudinal position can be classified into four types; calcareous ooze (5~6 N), siliceous sediments (8~12 pelagic red clay (16~17 mixed (7 N). Inorganic (IC) varied water depth carbonate compensation (CCD). Carbonate materials well preserved low latitude region, where depths are shallower than CCD. In contrast, higher region dominated by sediment clays has productivity column as deeper Thus, most dissolved, which resulted IC less 0.05% Organic (OC) total (TN) simply because primary area. OC TN lower It is attributed high input material due relatively shallow area, diluted organic matter sediment. Overall results indicated that relative CCD, production column, sedimentation rate largely controls large-scale
