Intoxication with GHB/GBL: characteristics and trends from ambulance-attended overdoses

摘要: Overdoses from so-called “club drugs” (GHB/GBL) have become a more frequent cause of overdoses attended by ambulance services. Given its availability, affordability, and lack awareness risks, there is common misconception among users that the drug relatively safe. This study reviewed records in Bergen, Norway between 2009 2015 for cases acute poisonings, particularly suspected GHB/GBL intoxication. In total, 1112 GHB GBL poisoning were identified. was 995 (89%) patients. Men made up majority (n = 752, 67.6%) with median age 27 years old. Temporal trends displayed late-night, weekend pattern. The most initial symptoms reported unconsciousness, or reduced consciousness. Most patients required further treatment transport.
