摘要: Abstract An automatic, highly sensitive instrument for the continuous measurement of vertical expansion and shrinkage has been erected in a montmorillonitic grumusol (Vertisol) pedon wet-dry Mediterranean climate (Akko, Israel). The annual amplitude soil movement is over 50 mm, average daily during dry season 0.3 mm. seasonal swelling due to moisture changes structural rearrangements clay. Superimposed on this there short-term diurnal heave shrink effect which well correlated with temperature curve specific volume air within heated surface layer soil. Its maximum 0.5 0.2
