摘要: Understanding the crushing behaviour of honeycombs under dynamic loading is useful for crash simulations vehicles and design impacting energy absorbers. Available experimental techniques, however, are not always able to provide satisfactory precision tests on impact loading. This paper presents a new application Split Hopkinson Pressure Bar (SHPB) testing honeycombs. Viscoelastic bars used improve accuracy measurements, generalised two-strain measurement method applied obtain sufficient measurable maximum crush (up 80%). Original data (especially in in-plane directions) then reported. Differences between quasi-static results discussed.
