Prevalence of respiratory and atopic disorders in Chinese schoolchildren

摘要: Background Epidemiological surveys have shown that the prevalence of asthma in Asian population is relatively low. Within Chinese population, schoolchildren from Hong Kong were found to highest rate asthma. Objective To compare respiratory and atopic disorders, assess role atopy development asthma, Kong, Beijing Guangzhou. Methods Community-based random samples aged 9–11 years three cities (Hong Guangzhou) recruited for study using International Study Asthma Allergies Childhood (ISAAC) Phase II protocol. Subjects studied by parental questionnaires (n = 10902), skin-prick tests (n = 3479) skin examination (n = 3479). Results The rates current wheeze, speech limiting rhinoconjunctivitis flexural dermatitis significantly more common than or Guangzhou. was also higher (41.2%) (23.9%) Guangzhou (30.8%). Atopy strongly correlated with wheeze (OR 7.74; 95% CI = 5.70–10.51). Subgroup analyses children revealed born mainland China who had subsequently migrated a lower allergic symptoms those Kong. Conclusion Using standardized written questionnaire along prick test examination, we confirmed diseases Kong. Atopic sensitization an important factor associated children.
