摘要: There is a need in many digital communication systems to estimate the current error rate of receiver without use special transmissions and interrupting traffic flow. Devices for performing this function have been termed performance monitor units (PMU). As an element adaptive system, PMU could be used determine when change needed and, by comparing rates which would result from various available choices adaptation, select best made at any time. This paper describes technique applicable wide class modulation methods. Details are given cases noncoherent frequency shift keying (FSK), differentially coherent phase (PSK), PSK receivers operating over fading channel.
