摘要: Abstract To determine the signal recognition particle (SRP)-SRP receptor (Srb) system in Bacillus subtilis (Bs) , we cloned Bs srb gene, which encodes a homologue of mammalian SRP α-subunit [Oguro et al., DNA Res. 2 (1995) 95–100]. We sequenced 6098-bp containing and analyzed gene organization. Primer extension experiment Northern blot analysis revealed that constitutes an operon with two additional ORFs. A database search known proteins one Escherichia coli RNase III [36.0% identical amino acids (aa)] other yeast Smcl (26.6% aa). then constructed mutant expression was induced by IPTG. The depletion Srb caused defect cell growth cells became filamentous twisted. Furthermore, pulse-chase experiments using this 17% β-lactamase precursor accumulated after 4-min chase absence IPTG, although almost all precursors were converted into mature form 1-min presence
