摘要: Abstract Objective Coffee consumption is negatively associated with risk of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular mortality. roasting can greatly modify the quality-quantitative characteristics bioactive compounds. We compared effects two different intensities same naturally low-caffeine Arabica coffee variety ( Laurina ) on glucose lipid metabolism as well oxidative stress. Methods performed a double-blind, crossover intervention study. Fourteen healthy male volunteers consumed four cups daily light roasted (LRC) dark (DRC), each for 1 wk (intervention period 1 respectively). One wk washout, total abstinence from other possible caffeine sources, preceded intervention. Data were collected at end washout periods. Results Changes between periods in concentrations 2 h post–oral tolerance test, significantly lower after DRC than LRC intake (−0.6 ± 0.3 0.4 ± 0.3 mmol/L, P = 0.03). The initial (30 min) test area under curve glucagon-like peptide-1 was 24± 9% greater = 0.03) LRC. or did not affect insulin sensitivity. basal reduced-to-oxidized glutathione ratio (GSH/GSSG) erythrocytes (+1437 ± 371 −152 ± 30, Conclusions improved postload by increasing incretin secretions. to redox balance increased omega-3 fatty acids. Thus, we suggest metabolic benefits related DRC.
