Corrosion behaviour of single (Ti) and duplex (Ti–TiO2) coating on 304L stainless steel in nitric acid medium

摘要: Abstract Sputter deposited single titanium (Ti) layer, and duplex Ti–TiO2 coating on austenitic type 304L stainless steel (SS) was prepared, the corrosion performance evaluated in nitric acid medium using surface morphological electrochemical techniques. Morphological analysis atomic force microscope of coated showed minimization structural heterogeneities as compared to Ti layer coating. The results revealed that, SS moderate marginal improvement resistance 1 M, 8 M acid, respectively. Duplex specimens improved from dilute (1 M) concentrated (8 M). percentage protection efficiency for base material increases significantly oxidizing ability both coatings well factors responsible are discussed highlighted this paper.
