Anti-Muslim Sentiments and Violence: A Major Threat to Ethnic Reconciliation and Ethnic Harmony in Post-War Sri Lanka

摘要: Following the military defeat of LTTE terrorism in May 2009, relationship between ethnic and religious groups Sri Lanka became seriously fragmented as a result intensified anti-minority sentiments violence. Consequently, Muslims (Moors) major target this conflict. The objective study is to critically evaluate nature impact anti-Muslim expressed violence committed by extreme nationalist forces during process reconciliation post-war Lanka. findings reveal that, with end civil war, have become “another other” also ethno-religious hatred from vigilante right-wing ethno-nationalist that claim be protecting Sinhala-Buddhist nation, race, culture These acts are perpetrated part their tactics aimed consolidate strong nation—and motivated state. Furthermore, recourse deficit lack autonomy within organizational hierarchy Buddhist clergy monks engage politics promote radical rhetoric. This recommends institutional procedural reforms guide monitor activities organizations, parties, movements, together teaching tolerance, preconditions for harmony has used only secondary data, which analyzed descriptive interpretive manner.
