摘要: Abstract Cocaine self-administration in rats was tested under various dose and frequency of access restrictions. In the continuous condition, groups were given continuous, unlimited to one three doses cocaine (1.5, 0.5, 0.2 mg/kg/infusion) for a duration 10 days. discrete trials group opportunity self-administer single infusion (1.5 mg/kg) within discrete, min trial. The received series these 7–10 days at frequencies (1, 2 or 4 trials/h). Results suggest that when is restricted four trials/h, median range (0.5 mg/kg per infusion), will cyclical manner over extended, infradian periodicities without developing outward signs ill health. This contrasts with previous studies where schedules have resulted toxicity overdose. It suggested restrictions may be employed order develop new animal models which examine factors underlying reinitiation extended periods intake. Such useful testing interventions potential disrupt patterns self-administration.
