摘要: Murraya koenigii leaves (Rutaceae) are used traditionally in Indian Ayurvedic system to treat diabetes. The purpose of the study is investigate effect mahanimbine (carbazole alkaloid from leaves) on blood glucose and serum lipid profiles streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats. Diabetes was induced adult male Wistar rats by intra-peritoneal injection streptozotocin (45mg/kg). Mahanimbine (50 100mg/kg) were administrated as a single dose per week for 30 days. control group received 0.3% w/v sodium carboxy methyl cellulose same duration. Fasting sugar measured non-diabetic In addition, vitro alpha amylase glucosidase inhibitory effects performed. Results: rats, elevated fasting sugar, triglycerides, low density lipoprotein, very lipoprotein levels reduced high level increased at 50 100mg/kg (i.p). showed appreciable weak when compared with acarbose. Conclusions: present indicated that possess anti-hyperglycemic anti-lipidemic effects. Thus results suggesting has beneficial management diabetes associated abnormal profile related cardiovascular complications. Keywords: Streptozotocin; Hypoglycemic; Hypolipidemic;
