摘要: The suspect in eyewitness lineups may be guilty or innocent. These possibilities are traditionally simulated identification studies using a dual-lineup paradigm: All witnesses observe the same perpetrator and then receive one of two lineups. In this paradigm, suspect's guilt is manipulated by including lineup an innocent other. filled with people matched to either (resulting different fillers perpetrator-present perpetrator-absent lineups) each lineup). An inescapable feature paradigm that differ not only guilt, but also their composition. Here, we describe single-lineup Subjects perpetrators all subjects containing perpetrators. This alternative allows manipulation without changing lineup's three experiments, applied explore suspect-filler similarity consistently found increasing reduced identifications did little prevent misidentifications. Conversely, when were suspects. finding suggests effect filler depend on person whom matched. We suggest more ecologically valid better controlled approach creating suspect-matched laboratory investigations memory than existing procedures. (PsycINFO Database Record
