摘要: Abstract Two of the major classification systems currently used to predict behavior rock masses are RMR (Rock Mass Rating) and GSI (Geological Strength Index). The was developed with aim recommending conceptual engineering solutions, while purpose is estimate strength deformability parameters masses. In an attempt quantify from, it introduced a formula, based on values. Additionally, defined as being 5 points lower than RMR's 1989 proposal (RMR89). However, since this correlation only for RMR89 values, should not be employed any later versions. context, paper presents results obtained from quantitative qualitative methods proposed determination applied itabirite in different weathering grades. addition, another paper's goal comprises correlations defining values adjustments suggested classification. These proposals were Tamandua Sapecado mines, both located eastern part Quadrilatero Ferrifero, state Minas Gerais, Brazil. Even though resulted similar zones chart, they have also presented difficulties good specifically soft The new found satisfactory showed potential aiding decision-making process projects involving (poor) masses, composed by low-strength lithotypes
