摘要: Successful kelp recruitment is important for population persistence and associated forest communities. The proximity of settled zoospores a known requirement successful can be increased as aggregate. Substrate rugosity also an factor affecting macroalgal settlement in wave-swept areas, may affect by aggregating zoospores. In this study, were cultured at different levels small-scale aggregation was quantified. Sporophyte production significantly became more aggregated indicating that processes aggregate have the potential to enhance recruitment. A 13-month field experiment demonstrated differential onto plates mimicked surface rugosities two common rock types within Stillwater Cove, Carmel Bay central California (Carmelo Formation sandstone Santa Lucia granodiorite). Significantly recruited molds mimicking granodiorite over yearlong study (granodiorite = 2.7 recruits ± SE 0.50, sandstone = 1.2 0.51). There significant difference between seasons variability due fact spring had highest average number recruits per mold. However, interaction substrate season not significant. This emphasizes importance zoospore on demonstrates affects
