摘要: Abstract Nowadays turbochargers play an important role in improving internal combustion engines (ICE) performance. Usually, engine manufacturers use computer codes to predict the behaviour of both and turbocharger, later by means measured look-up maps. Using maps different problems arise, being one most difference heat transfer between current operating condition conditions at which were measured. These effects are very low medium turbocharger speeds (typical urban driving conditions) where can even be higher than mechanical power. In this work, convective phenomena inside these kind machines have been analysed. Besides, general correlations for flows, based on dimensionless numbers, fitted validated three turbochargers. The applicability model is shown comparison main results obtained when used not, up 20 °C predicted turbine outlet temperature. advantages applying rely predicting fluids temperatures (compressor, turbine, oil coolant). former needed feed accurately ICE model, temperature after-treatment device modelling while coolant order design optimum cooling systems.
