Factors affecting wild rabbit production in extensive breeding enclosures: how can we optimise efforts?

摘要: The decline in the rabbit population Iberian Peninsula has led hunters and authorities to rear rabbits captivity systems for purpose of their subsequent release. An alternative method intensive rabbitry is extensive breeding enclosures, since they produce animals a greater quality hunting conservation purposes. However, some factors that affect production enclosures are still unknown. We have therefore used partial least squares regression (PLSR) analyse effect plot size, scrub cover, slope, initial abundance, resources needed dig warrens, predation proximity others enclosures. results our study show number other fenced plots within radius 3 km, cover optimal warrens abundance.
