摘要: Abstract Two energy production systems using short rotation coppice (SRC) willow chips were evaluated: bioethanol via enzyme-catalyzed hydrolysis and electricity following a biomass integrated gasification combined cycle scheme. The most relevant input output flows of each renewable system identified quantified throughout the life from SRC plantation to bioenergy plant gate. Both found be feasible an perspective. Moreover, they entailed environmental benefits when compared conventional practices. However, improvements relating not only but also conversion-related activities should considered. In this respect, process steps that provided highest impacts have been highlighted. Furthermore, well-to-wheels characterization results estimated for bioelectricity scenarios. sense, identification appropriate processing route was highly dependent on impact category under assessment. particular, global warming parameters led opposite conclusions. While scenario arose as potentially best choice perspective, seems more suitable alternative is decisive factor.
