Interrelatedness, Dynamic Factor Adjustment Patterns and Firm Heterogeneity in Austrian Manufacturing

摘要: The aim of this paper is twofold: one, it analyzes the dynamic factor adjustment patterns and performance changes firms in response to periods rapid capital, labor, production non-production labor; and, two, sheds light on role firm characteristics probability any input spike occurring. Firm-group information incorporated Austrian Industry Statistics Survey provides empirical platform for analysis. analysis shows that all factors considered represent strategic complements skill-technology complements, proves absence skill bias adoption leadingedge technologies embodied new machinery equipment. Furthermore, there evidence significant temporary disruptive effects spikes labor productivity profitability. Non-negligible heterogeneity also prevails Manufacturing with larger firm-groups facing lower average personnel costs being more likely experience spike. And strongly regulated market Austria appears favor workers.
