摘要: Chemiluminescence (CL) is a sensitive indicator of phagocytosis and intracellular killing; however, little known the normal CL response by human polymorphonuclear leukocytes to different pathogenic microorganisms. We investigated luminol-enhanced number common bacterial pathogens two yeasts. analyzed viable heat-killed microorganisms at 25 37 degrees C. The all was greater more rapid Variable responses were observed with microorganisms; some unaffected, whereas other demonstrated reduced CL. Each microorganism caused reproducible pattern, which could be placed into general categories. In first category those exponential rise decay in CL: Enterobacter cloacae, Salmonella typhimurium, Shigella flexneri, Staphylococcus aureus, Candida albicans, zymosan. second rose slowly over longer time course poorly defined peak: Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Proteus mirabilis, Streptococcus pyogenes. also reflected serum opsonic activity. effect inactivated complement, factor B, removal specific antibody investigated. Increasing concentration zymosan gave proportional peak CL; strain E. coli variation rather than height. Different kinetics shown for three strains K. possibly result each having membrane or cell wall characteristics. This study defines nature factors affecting variety
