摘要: This article provides a critical review of debates relating to discursive constructions low-income neighbourhoods. Drawing on literature from urban and development studies, it examines these issues in diverse contexts across the global North South, order explore divergent cross-cutting themes different periods settings. In this way, aims show how interrogating apparently disconnected discourses may help more clearly reveal their effects neighbourhoods, terms reflection reproduction marginalisation. It begins with consideration power potential for tangible already marginalised including compounding existing spatial social then gives brief relation historical context drawing accounts which respond processes urbanisation times places, same tropes recur. is followed by section explores resistance tropes, enduring nature.
