摘要: Street runoff can be a major source of potentially toxic aromatic compounds that enter estuaries, embayments and ocean inlets1,2. While investigating contaminated sediments in San Francisco Bay we discovered several benzthiazoles, which appear to derived from the use anti-oxidants manufacture rubber tyres. Our investigations confirm two these compounds, benz-thiazole 2-(4-morpholinyl)-benzthiazole, occur street they result weathering commercially used anti-oxidant manufacture. These are proposed as potential indicators contribution contaminants urban coastal areas.
