The Warepan Stage of the Upper Triassic: Redefinition and subdivision

摘要: Abstract Recently published studies show that the current definition of Warepan Stage New Zealand-New Caledonian Upper Triassic, based upon incoming Monotis (Entomonotis) richmondiana Zittel, is inadequate. Past practice has relied first appearance genus Monotis, and earliest species are not M. but members subgenus Eomonotis. To avoid stage boundary being placed within, instead at base of, a sequence short-lived rapidly evolving one genus, it recommended be replaced as index fossil by in region, namely, (Eomonotis) kiritehereensis G-M., (E.) rauparaha mokaui murihikuensis taringatura G-M.
