摘要: Abstract The Indian energy scenario has been suffering perennially from problems like deficit, inequity and threats to security. Conventional power-resources coal, oil gas, large hydro nuclear have inherent shortcomings, especially in the context, which make them fall short of fulfilling sufficiency aspirations India. present paper assesses validity promise offered by renewable technologies this context. existing trends cumulative installed capacity growth solar, wind, small biomass power India fitted simple logistic models forecast future trajectory. Similarly, long-term electricity demand projections made using models. Two scenarios three combined generate six demand-renewable scenarios. analysis done shows that most desirable scenario, percentage share overall mix rises steadily current 6% around 43–44% 2031–32, then decays gradually saturate at 26–27% 2063–2065; whereas, likely it 29% 2030–31 settle 21% 2064–65. This leaves policymakers with a lot thinking do regarding viability other alternatives planning, underscores need for path-breaking R&D sector.
