摘要: Recent observations of the distant Universe suggest that much stellar mass bright galaxies was already in place at z > 1. This presents a challenge for models galaxy formation because massive halos are assembled late hierarchical clustering process intrinsic to cold dark matter (CDM) cosmology. In this paper, we discuss new implementation Durham semi-analytic model which feedback due active galactic nuclei (AGN) is assumed quench cooling flows halos. mechanism naturally creates break local luminosity function magnitudes. The implemented within Millennium N-body simulation. accurate merger trees and large number realisations enabled by simulation result highly statistics. After adjusting values physical parameters reference properties population, investigate evolution K-band functions. We calculate volume-averaged star rate density as redshift way apportioned amongst different mass. robustly predicts substantial population out 5 rises least 2 objects all masses. Although observational data on these have been cited evidence “anti-hierarchical” formation, find when AGN taken into account, fundamentally CDM provides very good match observations.
