However, the association female gender, obesity may not close suggested by literature an underlying condition cannot discerned all cases. The natural history disease poorly understood; biopsy features span wide spectrum, reaching from uncomplicated, clinically non-progressive fatty liver (not NASH strict sense) slowly progressive inflammation fibrosis, submassive hepatic necrosis, which subfulminant course often fatal. Non-progressive very common but little clinical importance. form represents encountered clinicians pathologists. It current practice; patients present cirrhosis even HCC arising steatohepatitic cirrhosis. Subfulminant become exceedingly rare because many are now aware hazards sudden weight loss, particularly morbidly obese patients. Treatment options for still limited. promotion gradual loss widely recommended therapy but, unfortunately, this difficult achieve. Avoidance precipitous careful control important undisputed parts patient management. Administration UDCA treatment under study; effective some established does differ substantially that other types includes orthotopic transplantation.
