摘要: Microwave limb sounder observations of midstratospheric ozone during stratospheric warmings show tongues high drawn up from low latitudes into the developing anticyclone. Several days later, an isolated pocket mixing ratios appears, centered in anticyclone, and extending vertical ≈15 to 5 hPa, with higher both above below. These northern hemisphere are comparable values well inside vortex ≈3 parts per million by volume lower than typical midlatitude extra-vortex ratios. This type feature is seen whenever anticyclone strong persistent, including relatively minor southern hemisphere. Three-dimensional back trajectory calculations indicate that air region low-ozone pockets originates at altitudes latitudes, where much higher. The parcels studied here typically confined together for 1 3 weeks before lowest observed. comparisons passive tracer data confirm observed regions midstratosphere could not result solely transport processes.
