摘要: One of the central lessons harshly underscored by collapse northern cod stocks is that relation between catch per unit effort and stock abundance problematic. It confounded local knowledge. But social scientists, with disciplinary training in collection interpretation knowledge, have made little contribution to this, other problems fisheries management. This commentary briefly reviews several contested issues maritime science: skipper effect, fleet dynamics, folk management, scientific adaptations chaotic systems. suggests debates, much fine-grained empirical work underlying them, evolved context largely academic contests over paradigms such as cultural ecology, political economy, recently, ecology.
