摘要: Posterior capsule opacification (PCO, secondary cataract, after cataract) is a nagging postsurgical complication following extracapsular cataract surgery (ECCE) and intraocular lens (IOL) implantation. PCO should be eliminated since it has deleterious sequelae Neodynium: Yttrium Aluminium Garnet (Nd: YAG) laser treatment often an unnecessary financial burden on the health care system. could major problem, patient follow-up difficult Nd:YAG not always available. Advances in surgical techniques, IOL designs/biomaterials have been instrumental bringing about gradual unnoticed decrease incidence of PCO. We strongly believe that overall hence posterior capsulotomy now rapidly decreasing - from 50% 1980s early 1990s to less than 10% currently. Superior tools, procedures, skills appropriate designs all helped significantly reduce this complication. In article, we review aetio pathogenesis, experimental clinical studies propose implant-related factors for prevention. Careful application utilisation these by surgeons lead significant reduction second most common cause visual loss worldwide
