摘要: Atomic ion traps are excellent tools in atomic physics for studying single ions. Accurate measurement of the ion’s electronic state these is required by both clocks and quantum computation. Quantum computation with trapped ions can only scale to larger numbers qubits if their laser delivery infrastructure be scaled smaller sizes. Fiber optics a promising method because they collect large fraction light scattered ions, many optical fibers placed small area, allowing more measured region. The question I address this thesis is, “How integrated onto planar traps?” This presents process designed implemented integrating as well system into cryogenic system. While fiber integration was successful, we were unable trap any our fiber-integrated trap. We able show that could from surface trap, hypothesize amount dielectric present on may have distorted trapping potential prevented us also determined scatter spots much bigger problem optic collection systems than traditional bulk systems. Finally, propose reduce exposed vicinity solve sensitivity spots. Thesis Supervisor: Isaac Chuang Title: Associate Professor, Departments Physics EECS
