摘要: In shale, mudstone and siltstone samples (154) a positive relationship exists between the TiO2Al2O3 ratio quartz content. As grain size of sediment increases, so titanium oxides (rutile anatase are present) increase in importance relative to silicates, due sorting. sandstones reflects maturity, but degree sorting must be taken into account. The TiO2 substituting clay minerals Al2O3 content is not greater than 0.025 based on whole rock analyses. This borne out by values close 0.010 obtained following method Raman Jackson (Amer. Mineral. 50, 1086–1094, 1965). addition volcanic material normal may either or decrease depending ash composition. Volcanic contributions thus recognized several examples given from British Carboniferous.
