摘要: The proposal that sensory processing is achieved in segregated anatomical pathways has been profoundly revisited following the description of cross-modal connections both at higher and lower levels. However, an understanding cortical extent these long range functional influences missing. Here, we use magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) to map, non-human primate brain, regions which are activated by visual tactile stimulations. We describe unprecedented pattern visuo-tactile convergence, encompassing low-level somatosensory areas multiple higher-order associative areas. also show profile this convergence depends on physical properties mapping stimuli, indicating most probably even more prevailing than what actually describe. Overall, observations substantiate view brain massively multisensory.
