摘要: We study the influence of noisy transcription factor signals on cis-regulatory promoter elements. These elements process probability binary binding events analogous to computer logic gates. At equilibrium, this is given by so-called input function. show that noise causes deviations from equilibrium value due nonlinearity For a single site, correction always negative resulting in an occupancy below mean-field level. Yet for more complex promoters it depends correlation and geometry present explicit solutions basic types AND OR The size varies among these different gates signal types, mainly being larger correlated fluctuations. In all cases we find excellent agreement between analytical results numerical simulations. also E. coli Lac operon as example NOR gate. consistent mathematical method allows one separate sources quantifies their effect occupation. A surprising result our analysis Poissonian molecular fluctuations, contrast external do no contribute correction.
