Boiling over: A Descriptive Analysis of Drinking Water Advisories in First Nations Communities in Ontario, Canada

摘要: Access to safe and reliable drinking water is commonplace for most Canadians. However, the right denied many First Nations peoples across country, highlighting a priority public health environmental justice issue in Canada. This paper describes trends characteristics of advisories, used as proxy access water, among communities province Ontario. Visual statistical tools were summarize advisory data general, temporal trends, systems which advisories issued. Overall, 402 issued during study period. The number increased from 25 2004 75 2013. average duration was 294 days. Most reported summer months equipment malfunction commonly reason issuing an advisory. Nearly half all occurred where additional operator training needed. These findings underscore that prevalence problem must be addressed. Concerted multi-faceted efforts are called improve provision communities.
