摘要: Thousands of tourists from all over the world flock to two island sites at opposite ends earth one another for no other reason than gaze in awe and wonder color phenomenon each is famous for. Hawaii’s Green Sand Beach on southernmost point Big Island boasts an entire beach covered with tiny olivine crystals that sparkle like emeralds tropical sun. Olivine a common constituent lava flows, but only this place has it been found gem quality—the case seem have floated former lake. Around globe North Atlantic, unique body water known as Blue Lagoon Iceland’s Reykjanes peninsula plays host about 400,000 visitors year who come take dip water—also indirect product ancient flow flooded by transforming effluent nearby geothermal power plant. What some materials give rise these so many wonderful colors? Why are substances colorless, can we modify them produce color? The answers questions not simple, they involve awareness several important insights regarding nature matter, particularly atoms molecules.
