摘要: American Indians (AIs) have some of the poorest documented health outcomes any racial/ethnic group. Research plays a vital role in addressing these disparities.Historical and recent instances unethical research, specifically Havasupai diabetes project, generated mistrust AI communities. To address concerns about research held by AIs Heartland (Midwest), Center for Indian Community Health (CAICH) has launched series efforts to inform participants’ rights.CAICH educates researchers importance learning respecting community’s history, culture, values, wishes when engaging with that community. Through community-based participatory CAICH is also empowering assert their rights as participants.
